Reed, a former Seattle player who has now played for other teams, has come to hold a special place in his heart for the Seahawks. His love for Seattle and its fans is palpable as he speaks about the organization. "I love Seattle, I love the fans," he said. "This organization is first-class, a high-class organization. Man, I have respect for John (Schneider) and Jody (Allen) and everybody who makes it possible for us as Seahawks and to go out there and perform and do what we do."
Respect for the Seahawks Community
Reed's respect for the people around the Seahawks building is evident. From Stu (McNabb) in the cafeteria to Erik Kennedy in the equipment room and C.J. (Neumann) in the training room, he treats everyone with the respect they deserve. "They do a lot for us to be able to go out here and perform and do what we do as well," he added. The Final Year of His Contract
This month, Reed turns 32 and is in the final year of the deal he signed last year. However, his hope is to continue his career in Seattle and retire as a Seahawk. "Of course, I want to stay. I want to retire here. I mean, I've been here basically my whole career except for two years. Like I said earlier, this is home, man. So I would definitely like to end it off here however long that may be. Who knows?" he expressed.Impact on Seattle's Defense
This season, Reed has been a significant part of the Seahawks' recent success. His numbers, 2.5 sacks, 31 tackles, three tackles for loss and 10 quarterback hits, are respectable for an interior lineman. But Leonard Williams quickly points out that Reed's play around him has contributed to his recent big games. "There's a lot J-Reed's done," defensive coordinator Aden Durde said. "He's a very, very good pass rusher. He has the ability to play multiple positions, and that helps us on our front, his versatility. And then kind of as a leader in the room behind the scenes, how he brings up Murph and the guys around him, both him and Leo are doing a great job." Reed's leadership, especially for first-round pick Byron Murphy II, has been crucial.New
